Empower the Self

The Universe provides us unlimited opportunities in the form our family, friends, strangers, signs to experience ‘life’ and evolve. Here are a few tools to empower the self as we continue on our journey.

Sweet Dreams
An antidote I use to enjoy a good night’s sleep and wake up rejuvenated is:
Put a handful of sea salt to a bowl of water. Keep the bowl beside your bed to collect the emotions in your room. Make sure that the water is changed on a daily basis for two weeks.

Keep your environment friendly

Cleanse your home & work space using a Sage Smudge stick (*Dhoop option at the bottom of the note)

Pick a time when you will not be interrupted. Shut all doors and windows to keep the smoke in.
Play your favourite mantra~ Om/ Waheguru/… or spa music.

Repeat this Light Invocation three times: “I invoke the light of the God within, I am a clear and perfect channel, Light is my guide.”

Light up the sage stick and get it smouldering.

Invoke the smoke, “Be blessed and trap any and all negative entities and energies”.

The first thing to do is to smudge yourself, starting with the bottoms of your feet and working the smoke up around your body, your head and above your head.

Open the closet doors, drawers, chests and cabinets before you begin cleansing each space.

Start smudging the doorway by directing the smoke around the doorframe. To help direct the smoke into drawers and closets, you can either use a feather if you have one or just use your hand in a fanning motion.

After the doorways just go around the room to the four corners and then down the middle with a circular motion.

Once all rooms are smudged, open as many windows and doors as is practical to allow the smoke to be purged from the interior and fresh air and chi to flow back into your space.

The idea is that the smoke traps the unwanted stuff and then you let it out through the windows and open doors.
Sit down and relax and begin to enjoy your cleansed environment.

You might want to redo the smudge ceremony every six months on New Moon.

*My mother is a bit innovative and she uses ‘Dhoop’ sticks roled as one to smoke smudge her environment (since they are made of the Havan samagri & do the smoke effect).

Nature Walk

naturewalk01 “Stop and smell the roses” (especially the pink one-it heals the heart ;) is a well known phrase to reminder us to slow down, relax, and experience the beauty of nature and be at peace. I love taking walks. It is another way to relax and experience the serenity that comes from being in nature. A fine example of going out to go with-in.

Essential oils

essentialoils Essential oils are extracted from various parts of a plant, including the stem, leaf, flower, bark, fruits and even the root. They not only smell nice, but also benefit me in a variety of ways like help me relax, provide relief from minor discomforts and cater to my general physical and spiritual wellbeing. I personally enjoy using Frankincense, Lemon grass and Lavender.

Note: Be careful about the quality of the aromatherapy products and use the safest and most gentle pure oils.

Meditation
Soften the lights in your special place.
Play some soothing drooony music.
Using Frankincense in an oil diffuser, will heighten the experience for you.
'Be' in a comfortable position. Focus on the inhalation of your breath.
Acknowledge the thoughts that come to you & let go of them.
As your body relaxes, you will begin to 'listen' to the 'knowing' within.
Its that 'knowing', the intuition which will guide you towards inner and outer fulfillment.

Guess what, practice doesn't just make a man perfect, it works for women too
Note: Be careful when using candles.

Full Moon Meditation
Moon has a vital effect on water and since a major part of our body is composed of water, meditating on a full moon night/day, helps you observe a heightened activity of the mind. It's restorative and powerful vibrations can add a renewed vigor in your life. As you continue practicing meditation, you begin to notice the shift in your life in the form of a movement in your thoughts and ideas. The thoughts can appear as a 'Knowing' wisdom, understanding, or inspiration.
Plan to get the Full Moon to bestow its Special powers on us. Are you ready ?

Planning to meditate outside under the full moon light? Ensure that you wear suitable clothing to keep your body warm.

Sit in a comfortable position.
Focus on the inhalation of your breath.
Relax your body, start at the toes and work your way up.
As you continue to relax, acknowledge the thoughts that come to you & let go of them.
When you feel fully relaxed allow your body to become aware of the full moon light that is shining down upon you. Allow yourself to be surrounded with that light.
Let that full moon energy revitalize each pore in your body.
Connect with the moon through your heart and let your very ‘being’ be healed.
When you feel cleansed and full of the moon energy, release it back into the sky, focus on your breathing again and allow your awareness to come back to your actual time and place.

Stillness of the mind and patience, along with an optimistic attitude will lead to a sense of inspiration and connection with your higher self.

roseHeal through love. The Yogic way to healing your heart and your Spirit.Pink rose is known to be the symbol of 'love'.
Sit in a comfortable position.
Observe each of the beautifully crafted petals of the pink rose.
As you inhale it's sweet intoxicating aroma, it moves & seeps into each pore of your body, finding its way to your heart. The very core of your being.
Allow it to take away all the hurts, the pains & stress.
Be one with the pink rose.
Witness the grandeur of your Spirit as it heals.
Be the 'love' & it will seek you.

Blessings and light.
